Outsourcing models

Project based - This is a model with a clear cut-off date based on the initial requirements. We provide time/cost estimates for the whole project based on these requirements. These estimates stay unchanged throughout the contract period. Any change to the requirements after the contract is signed requires a review of and amendments to the contract. This model may be not flexible enough for customers who expect that their requirements may change over the course of the project, in which case the next model may provide a better solution.

Team based (time/resources) - This is the best model when requirements might be subject to changes, to a certain extent, throughout the development period. Customers may consider this model as a way to have their own low cost/high productivity team. The project manager guarantees the most efficient approach to adjustments to the requirements, and this minimizes switching costs. We would provide a group of developers solely dedicated to the specific project or customer for the agreed period of time and elaborate a complete development environment for the developers. Such approach allows the following:

Mixed teams - This model can be either project-based or material-based. The main feature of this model is that there are two collaborating teams, one local and one offshore, with the work split between them. This model can be utilized for projects in which local developers are necessary for core parts of the project or for legal reasons, and offshore developers are used for cost savings. Every team has a team leader who reports to the local project manager.

Team structure

Most often, teams consist of a team leader, several developers and QA resource. DBA can be assigned to the team, if necessary, on a full- or part-time basis. The team leader is reports to the local (US or Europe-based) project manager, who manages project requirements and timelines, deals with issues that arise and is available for contact during the regular (local) work day.
Teams are put together in a 2- to 4-week period, depending on the size of the team, availability, required skill set and the customer's requirements.
